About Maze Muncher
Maze Muncher is a free maze chase game inspired by the arcade classic Pac-Man, rebuilt from scratch in the style of an old Java phone game. You are Chomp, a hungry green critter who has to clear every dot from the maze while four spooks hunt him down. Grab a flashing energizer and the tables turn: for a few seconds the spooks turn blue and run away, and every one you catch is worth more than the last.
If you are looking for a pac man online style game that loads instantly, works without a connection and plays well on a phone, this is it. There are three original mazes that rotate every two levels, each with its own tunnels and tricks.
How to play
- Eat all the small dots (10 points) to clear the level. Energizers are worth 50.
- After an energizer, catch blue spooks for 200, 400, 800 and 1600 points in a row.
- Snacks appear twice per level below the spook house. Their value grows every level.
- Use the side tunnels to escape: spooks slow down inside them.
- You start with three lives and earn one more at 10,000 points.
Meet the spooks

The spooks also take short breaks, wandering to their home corners before the hunt starts again.

Tips and tricks
Turn early
Press or swipe the next direction before you reach a junction. Chomp remembers it and cuts the corner, which is faster than turning late and often the difference between escaping and getting caught.
Save the energizers
Clear the open corridors first and keep the energizers for when the spooks crowd you. Eat one when they are close, so you can catch all four before the blue time runs out.
Watch Mope and Whisk
Mope turns back when you approach, so it is rarely the real danger. Whisk is: it waits around the corner you are heading for. Change direction when Whisk appears in front of you.
Finish fast
The last dots are the most dangerous ones. Blaze speeds up near the end, so plan a short route to the final stragglers.
Hardcore mode
For a real challenge switch Difficulty to Hardcore in Options. You get a single life and no continue, the spooks are faster, blue time is short on the first two levels and gone after that, and from level 3 the spooks never take a break. Hardcore scores have their own table on the leaderboards. Want something different afterwards? Try Snake, Brick Tanks or the desert sprint of Dino Run.

Yes. Open the page once while connected and your browser keeps the whole arcade. After that Maze Muncher loads and plays with no internet at all.
How do I play on a phone?
Tap Play and swipe on the maze in the direction you want to go, or use the big arrow pad. Turns are remembered, so you can swipe a moment before you reach a corner.
How do I get an extra life?
Reach 10,000 points for one extra life. In normal mode you can also watch an optional rewarded ad once per game to continue with one more life.
What is Hardcore mode?
Set Difficulty to Hardcore in Options. You get a single life, faster and smarter spooks and very short blue time, and the scores go on a separate leaderboard.
How do online high scores work?
Your best scores are always saved on your device. Sign in with your email to also post them on the Maze Muncher leaderboards.
