About Flappy

Flappy is a free flappy game for your browser: a one-button flyer in the spirit of Flappy Bird, rebuilt from scratch with its own hero, art and music. You guide Nib, a small purple bat with big ears and a bigger appetite for adventure, through a forest of ancient stone pillars while the sun sets behind ruined temples. Every tap is a wing beat, every gap you slip through is one point, and a single touch of stone ends the flight.

Like everything in the arcade, Flappy is drawn in chunky pixels and scored with a tiny chiptune soundtrack, the way Java phone games looked in the mid-2000s. It loads in a moment, needs no account, and once you have opened the page it keeps working with no connection at all. That makes it a handy way to get your flappy bird online fix on a plane, on the subway or anywhere the signal drops.

How to play

  1. Press Start on the title screen, then choose New Game. Nib hovers on the Get Ready screen until your first flap.
  2. Each flap gives Nib a short lift. Stop flapping and gravity pulls the bat down quickly, so keep a steady beat to stay in the air.
  3. Fly through the opening between each top and bottom pillar. Every pair you pass scores one point.
  4. Hitting a pillar, the ground or the top of the screen knocks Nib out. Flap again to start a new run instantly.
  5. Score 10, 20, 30 and 40 to earn the bronze, silver, gold and platinum medals.

Tips and tricks for more medals

Find a rhythm, not a panic button

The pillars arrive at an even pace, so the best flights come from calm, regular taps rather than bursts. Two quick flaps send Nib much higher than you expect. In most situations a single, well-timed flap is all you need.

Enter low, leave high

Line Nib up with the middle of the next gap early, then let the bat drift toward the lower half as you enter. A flap from there carries you up and out without grazing the hanging pillar, which is where most runs end.

Look one pillar ahead

As soon as Nib is inside a gap, glance at the next one. If it sits much higher, start climbing the moment you clear the stone. If it is lower, simply stop flapping and fall into place: diving is faster than climbing.

Turn on Speed Up for a real challenge

The Speed Up switch in the Options menu makes every 10 gaps a little faster and the openings a little tighter. It is a great way to practice for the gold and platinum medals, then see how you compare on the leaderboards.

Need a change of pace? Sprint across the desert in Dino Run, bounce skyward in Jump Up or drill your spell combos in the Invoker Trainer.

Flappy FAQ

Is Flappy free to play?

Yes. Flappy is completely free, runs in your browser and needs no download or account. Signing in is optional and only used for online leaderboards.

Is this the original Flappy Bird?

No. Flappy is an original game inspired by the one-button flying genre that Flappy Bird made famous. Nib the bat, the stone pillars, the sounds and the code were all created from scratch for NoInternet Arcade, which is not affiliated with Flappy Bird or its creators.

Can I play Flappy offline?

Yes. Open the page once while connected and your browser keeps the whole arcade. After that Flappy loads and plays with no internet at all. You can also install the arcade as an app from the footer.

How do I play on a phone or tablet?

Tap Play and the game fills your screen. During a flight the whole screen is one big flap button, so tap anywhere. There is also a large FLAP button beside the screen if you prefer a fixed spot for your thumb.

How do the medals work?

Your medal is shown on the game over card: bronze for 10 gaps, silver for 20, gold for 30 and platinum for 40 or more. The card also tells you how many gaps you need for the next one.

Why do I keep hitting the top pillar?

Usually because of double taps. Two flaps in a row lift Nib far more than one, so wait until the bat starts to sink before tapping again, and enter each gap in its lower half.

How do online high scores work?

Your best flights are always saved on your device. Sign in with your email to also post them on the daily and all-time Flappy leaderboards.
