About the Invoker Trainer
Invoker is the hero people quit learning, not because the ideas are hard but because the hands are slow. Ten spells hide behind three orbs and one Invoke key, and in a real fight you have about a second to build the right one. This Invoker trainer gives you that second over and over: a quiet pixel arena, a straw dummy, your keys, and a timer that tells you exactly which invoker cast is still costing you time.
There are four modes. Spell Rush asks for random spells for 60 seconds; your score is the number you invoke and cast correctly. The Daily Challenge gives everyone the same 20 spells and ranks the total time on the leaderboards. Combo Trainer grades full sequences from S to D, and Free Practice has no clock at all. A Stats screen tracks your average time per spell, error rate, APM and a 14-day progress graph.

How invoking works
- Press Q Quas, W Wex or E Exort to add an orb. You hold three; a fourth press pushes out the oldest.
- Only the mix counts. Two Wex and one Quas is Tornado whether you typed WWQ, WQW or QWW.
- Press R Invoke with three orbs to create that spell. With fewer than three, nothing happens.
How the D and F slots work
A freshly invoked spell always lands in D, and whatever sat in D slides to F; the old F spell is gone. Invoking the spell that is already in F simply swaps the two slots. Invoking the spell already in D does nothing at all, so it is a wasted press. Cooldowns belong to the spell, not the slot, so re-invoking never resets one.
Invoker spell table
| Spell | Orbs | Keys | Legacy key | Use it for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cold Snap | QQQ | Q Q Q R | Y | Repeated mini-stuns while the target keeps taking damage. |
| Ghost Walk | QQW | Q Q W R | V | Go invisible and slow nearby enemies to escape. |
| Ice Wall | QQE | Q Q E R | G | A slowing wall in front of you; aim it by facing. |
| EMP | WWW | W W W R | C | Delayed burst that drains mana in an area. |
| Tornado | WWQ | W W Q R | X | Lifts enemies in a line; the opener for most combos. |
| Alacrity | WWE | W W E R | Z | Attack speed and damage for you or an ally. |
| Sun Strike | EEE | E E E R | T | Global delayed beam; land it on lifted or stunned targets. |
| Forge Spirit | EEQ | E E Q R | F | Summons that shred armor while you push or fight. |
| Chaos Meteor | EEW | E E W R | D | A rolling, burning rock; drop it where enemies will land. |
| Deafening Blast | QWE | Q W E R | B | Cone wave that knocks back and disarms. |
Invoker combos cheat sheet
Every combo below is built into the Combo Trainer. The key sequences start from empty orbs and slots with default keys; commas separate spells. Notice how the orb order is chosen so the next spell needs as few presses as possible.
| Combo | Key sequence | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Tornado → EMP → Chaos Meteor → Deafening Blast | W W W R Q R D F, E R E W R D F | Pre-invoke EMP and Tornado, then Blast and Meteor: 15 keys instead of 16. |
| Cold Snap → Forge Spirit → Alacrity | Q Q Q R D, E E R D, W W R D | The classic lane pick-off: snap, summon, buff, hit. |
| Sun Strike → Chaos Meteor → Deafening Blast | E E E R D, W R D, Q R D | Only one orb change between spells: the fastest burst to learn. |
| Tornado → EMP → Ice Wall | Q W W R D, W R D, Q Q E R D | Quas-Wex lockdown: lift, burn mana, wall the landing spot. |
| Tornado → Sun Strike → Chaos Meteor | Q W W R D, E E E R D, W R D | Time the beam so it lands as the Tornado ends. |
| Cold Snap → Deafening Blast → Ghost Walk | Q Q Q R D, E W R D, Q Q R D | Peel and escape: snap, push away, vanish. |
Invoker training plan
Days 1–3: recipes before speed
Keep key hints on and play Free Practice until you can say each recipe without looking at the wall table. Accuracy first; a wrong spell in a real fight costs far more than a slow one.
Days 4–7: Spell Rush every session
Three rounds a day is enough. Open Stats afterwards: the slowest spell is highlighted, and that one deserves ten minutes of Free Practice on its own. Watch the graph rather than single scores.
Week 2: think in transitions
Strong players never rebuild all three orbs. From Sun Strike, one Wex gives Chaos Meteor and one Quas then gives Deafening Blast. The Combo Trainer counts wasted keys, so it will show you where your hands take the long way round.
Then: match your real settings
Switch quick cast and the invoke cooldown to what you play with, try the Daily Challenge for a fair daily benchmark, and take a break with Dino Run, Flappy or Jump Up. More guides live on the blog.
Invoker Trainer FAQ
Is the Invoker Trainer free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no download and no account. Signing in is optional and only used for the Spell Rush and Daily Challenge leaderboards and for syncing your training stats.
Is this an official Dota 2 tool?
No. Fan-made practice tool. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve Corporation. The wizard, icons, effects and sounds are original; Dota 2 and spell names are only used to describe what you practice.
Does the order of Quas, Wex and Exort matter?
Not for the spell you get: only the count of each orb decides it, so QWE, EWQ and WEQ all make Deafening Blast. Order does matter for speed, because the oldest orb is the one pushed out by your next press.
Can I use legacy keys or my own hotkeys?
Yes. Open Key Bindings to pick the Default QWER-DF preset, the Legacy preset (each spell cast with its own letter, such as X for Tornado and T for Sun Strike) or a number-row layout, or remap every key yourself.
What is quick cast and should I use it?
With quick cast on, a spell fires at your cursor the moment you press its key. With it off, the key shows a target cursor and you click to cast. Practice with the same setting you use in your real games.
How is the Daily Challenge scored?
Everyone gets the same 20 spells each UTC day. Your score is the total time from GO to your last correct cast, so lower is better. Wrong casts do not advance the list, which costs you time.
How are combo grades calculated?
The Combo Trainer starts from empty orbs and slots and compares your run with the fastest possible key path. Time per spell, keys pressed beyond that optimum and casts out of order lower your score from 100; 90+ is an S.
Does it work offline and on phones?
Yes. After one visit the page works without internet. On phones, Q W E R sit on the left, D and F on the right, and you tap the arena to aim.
