About Pixel Grocer
Pixel Grocer is a free idle shop game about a little farm shop that grows one coin at a time. Behind the shop is a farm: tomato beds, apple trees, a chicken coop, a corn patch and a dairy cow, and later a whole meadow with strawberries and beehives. You run between the farm and the shop floor, keep the shelves stocked, take the money at the register and spend it on whatever the shop needs next.
It starts with one tomato bed, one shelf and an empty register. A few days later you have a cashier at the counter, farmhands picking and stocking on their own, a guard at the door, a juice press turning apples into bottles of juice, a jukebox and a neon sign that brings the whole town in. The shop is saved as you play, so you can play a day on the bus and carry on the next morning.
How to play
- Pick by walking up to anything ripe: a tomato bed, a tree, the coop, the corn, the cow, the strawberries or a hive. Produce piles up in your arms until your basket is full (MAX).
- Stock a shelf by walking past it with its produce. The tag over every shelf shows how many items are on it.
- Sell by standing behind the counter: the customers in the queue pay one by one and the coins fly into your pocket. Empty shelves and long waits send customers home.
- Grow by standing on a coin pad. It takes your coins a little at a time and builds what it shows: new produce, shelves, a bigger basket, faster shoes, signs, decorations and helpers.
- Keep it fresh. Goods left too long spoil on the shelf and ripe produce wilts on the plant. Walk past to take them off, then throw them on the compost heap by the back door.
- Watch the door. From day 3 a thief may sneak in, grab goods off a shelf and run for it. Run into him to get everything back plus a reward.
Controls

Helpers, upgrades and decorations
- Cashier: runs the register for you. Her takings wait in the register until you walk behind the counter.
- Farmhands (up to three): pick produce, stock the emptiest shelf, keep the juice press fed with apples and carry wilted crops to the compost.
- Guard: chases down thieves on his own.
- Baskets carry 6, 8 and finally 10 items; sneakers and running shoes make you faster.
- Signs bring more customers; tall racks let every shelf hold 12.
- Potted plants make customers wait longer, a jukebox gets everyone tipping, flower beds make the bees faster.
- The meadow behind the farm opens a second area with strawberries and beehives.
Customers
Most shoppers want one or two things; some push a cart and fill it. Kids run in for something sweet and do not like to wait. Grannies take their time, wait patiently and leave a tip. Bulk buyers in sunglasses arrive with a big cart, buy five to eight of something and pay 30% on top. If a shelf is sold out, shoppers wait a while, then settle for something else on the shelves or walk out.
Stars, reviews and fresh goods
Every customer who leaves writes a short review: five stars for quick service, fewer after a long wait at an empty shelf or in a line nobody serves, or when something on their list was missing, and one or two for walking out. The reviews move the shop's star rating at the top of the screen, and the rating sets how many customers come: a four- or five-star shop stays busy, a poor one gets quiet (never empty). Serve well again and the stars climb back, with a COMEBACK! banner when the customers return.
Customers take the oldest goods first, but stock that sits too long spoils on the shelf and still takes its slot, and nobody likes the look of it: a shopper who sees spoiled goods gives a star less. Ripe produce left on a plant wilts. Walk past to take the spoiled things off and throw them on the compost heap by the back door. Goods spoil faster on hot days and slower in the rain, and honey never spoils.
Days, weather and goals
The shop opens at 8 AM and closes at 8 PM, about two and a half minutes of play. Every day brings two small goals (serve 20 customers, sell 10 eggs, catch the thief...) that pay a bonus, and its own weather: rain grows the plants much faster but keeps shoppers home, storms more so, hot days bring a busy, impatient crowd. The day card at closing time shows what you earned and tomorrow's forecast.
Tips and tricks
Hire the cashier early
Until you have a cashier you have to be in two places at once. She is cheap, and she frees you to keep the shelves full: just walk past the counter now and then to empty the register.
Fill your arms before you walk
Every trip between the farm and the shop costs time, so pick a full basket, and mix produce for the shelves that are running low. A bigger basket is one of the best early buys.
Plan around the forecast
A rainy day refills the farm quickly while fewer shoppers come, and goods keep longer in the rain: a good day to stock up every shelf. Before a hot day, make sure the cheap shelves are full, because impatient shoppers walk out fast, but do not overstock: the heat spoils goods sooner.
Keep the press busy
Apple juice sells for more than three times an apple. Once the apple shelf is full, walk your apples past the press instead.

Pixel Grocer FAQ
Is Pixel Grocer free?
Yes. The whole game is free in your browser, with no download and no account, and there are no ads to watch to keep playing or to speed anything up. Signing in is optional: it keeps your shop in sync between devices and puts your best days on the leaderboards.
Does my shop stay when I close the page?
Yes. The shop is saved on your device as you play and opens again exactly where you left it, also offline. Signed-in players get the same shop on every device. With a cashier hired, the shop even takes a few coins while you are away: collect them at the register.
Can I start a new shop?
Yes. Once you have a shop, the title menu shows PLAY with your current day and NEW GAME beside it. NEW GAME asks first, then erases the day, your coins, your stock and everything you built, and you open a fresh shop on day 1. Your best days on the leaderboards and your shop looks from Rewards stay.
Can I play it offline?
Yes. Open the page once while you are online and your browser keeps the game. After that the shop opens with no connection at all, on a phone, a laptop or a tablet.
How do I play on a phone?
Tap the game to play full screen. In the menus you get the usual round D-pad with OK. In the shop an analog stick on one side walks the shopkeeper in any direction, and the INFO button opens the shop ledger with your goals, prices and totals. Left-handed players can swap the sides in Options.
What does the weather do?
Every day has its weather, and the day card shows tomorrow's forecast. Rain makes the plants grow back much faster but keeps some shoppers at home; a storm does both even more. On a hot day the shop is busy but customers are impatient and the plants wilt a little. Bees do not mind the rain: honey depends on the flower beds.
What goes on the leaderboard?
Each day in the shop is one run: the coins you take at the register that day are your score. The Best Day board ranks them, and HARDCORE in Options (impatient customers, thieves from day 2) has its own board.
Can I change how my shopkeeper looks?
Yes. Signed-in players can spend the stars from daily quests and the login streak on five whole-shop looks in Rewards: Seaside Market, Winter Cabin, Blossom Garden, Neon Night Market and Golden Emporium. Each one dresses the farm, the shop and the street, with a matching outfit for your shopkeeper. Skins never change how the game plays.
